Leadership Plain and Simple.

by Steve Radcliffe

I was introduced to this book by a dear friend of mine, who insisted I would love it – she was right! Its simplicity strips away the complexity and theory that we are asked to get our heads around when it comes to mastering leadership.  In just over 150 pages, it emphasises the importance of authenticity, integrity and relationships in building a successful leadership style.

Using three powerful words - Future Engage Deliver - Radcliffe shares a leadership framework that emphasizes the importance of envisioning a clear future, engaging others in that vision, and delivering on the goals.

Key components of the Future Engage Deliver framework:

  • Future: Leaders should have a clear vision of where they want to lead their team or organization. This involves setting goals, defining values, and creating a compelling narrative.

  • Engage: Leaders must engage others in their vision. This involves building relationships, communicating effectively, and inspiring people to be part of the journey.

  • Deliver: Leaders need to deliver on their goals. This involves taking action, overcoming obstacles, and achieving results.

The short case studies and thought provoking questions make this a great text. Emerging leaders will learn how to get started, while those of us that have been doing the role for some time (and perhaps even think we are great at it) will be challenged to take a fresh look at how we do about things.
